Tuesday night we’re playing tournament style Texas Hold’em down at Sun Gins. The buy-in is $5, and also when I talked to Victor Lee earlier he asked me to remind everyone that the buffet will be open while we’re playing.

PANS To Study Mere Christianity This Spring

Upon returning to campus after Christmas Break, the PANS will begin studying C.S. Lewis’ book Mere Christianity. All unaffiliated students are invited and encouraged to participate in this book reading and discussion. The first topic of conversation will be the first two chapters “The Law of Human Nature” and “Some Objections”. If you would like to participate, try to find a copy of the text before you leave home (the parental bank will love buying this book for you.)

The first meeting will be held at 9:00 pm on Sunday January 24 in Ketler G4. Discussion will be led by Chaplain Rainer Fehrenbacher.

Why Should You Join a Fraternity?

During your four years here at GCC, it is likely that one of your friends will join a fraternity. Hopefully you are also considering this opportunity. Here are some videos that lay out the benefits and advantages of joining a fraternity:

Pan Sophic Fraternity Open Hall – Monday Dec. 14

As part of a campus-wide push by the Inter-Fraternity Council, the PANS will be holding an open hall on Monday December 14 from 9-11 PM.

The Greek system at GCC can be one of the most misunderstood facets of campus life and we are taking it upon ourselves to spread knowledge to those who are interested…thus the Open Halls.
The slogan that we have put on our posters is “Never Settle. Rise Up. Become Excellent.” This is more than just a shallow tagline about how we think we are cooler than everybody else. Every member of Pan Sophic will tell you that belonging to a fraternity is much more than just an extra-curricular activity. When you join a fraternity, you accept responsibilities and are given opportunities that will not only improve your four years at GCC, but mold you into a stronger and more mature adult.

Take, for instance, this website. I am a Communications major and actively participate in several on-campus extra-curriculars (the Collegian, 91.1 GCC Radio, etc.) to boost my portfolio of experience. However, creating and maintaining a website for my fraterntiy has given me valuable writing and design experience (not to mention the invaluable connections I have made with PAN alumni during my short stint as fraternity webmaster/content editor.) It is this mentality of opportunity and hard work that is not only encouraged, but sometimes required of PANS.

We take pride in our history, traditions, and the “Iron-Sharpening-Iron” atmosphere. Swing by the basement ground floor of Ketler and take advantage of this opportunity to live up to your full potential as a man.

Two PANS To Compete In Big Man!

Two brothers of the Pan Sophic Fraternity will be competing in the Sig Thet’s annual Big Man on Campus event in the IM Room, Friday December 11!

Phil Antoline and Joel Fiscus will be competing in this event against 7 other guys from around campus.

The Pans send guys to compete in the Big Man competition every year and are always among the top candidates (if not the winners themselves!)

Last year, Brandon Tigges was the second runner-up as he wowed the entire campus with his mind-blowing exhibition of classical piano skills. In 2006, our brother Joel Settecase won the competition. We are cheering for Phil and Joel to bring it back in 2009!

Come out and support these studs as they show the campus what a real man is truly made of.

Also, don’t forget to bring $3 for admission into the event.

Poker Night at 4 Star Pizza – Wednesday September 22, 2009

We are all heading down to Four Star Pizza on Wednesday evening for some games and grub. Anybody is welcome to come, it’ll be a fun time no doubt.

Buy-ins are $5 so make sure to bring money for that as well as any food you would like.

Four Star Pizza is located in downtown Grove City, well within walking distance of all GCC dorms. Come meet up on our hall (the basement of Ketler, through the door right across the way from where Campus Safety parks) at about 5:45 and we’ll all head down together.

Drive-In Move Night – Saturday September 19, 2009

We will be going down to the Pioneer Drive-In Theater in Butler, PA this Saturday with the sisters of Sigma Theta Chi. It will be an excellent chance to meet new people, hang out with some of the guys, and see an old-fashioned drive-in movie!

Welcome Freshman Class of 2013

Congratulations to the Class of 2013 on their acceptance and new arrival to Grove City College! The next four years of your life will fly by, but I guarantee you that (if you let it), they can be the best years of your life.

Having said that, let me explain what this site is all about. We in the Pan Sophic Fraternity are, as cheesy as it sounds, “looking for a few good men”. Grove City College will prepare your minds for the harsh world outside of school, but what about the other aspects of your life? A classroom can only teach you so much.

Since it’s creation in 1911, the Pan Sophic Fraternity has molded over 1,000 boys into strong adult men. The Pans offer a certain tradition and brotherhood that is unmatched within the Grove City fraternity system (not to mention housing groups, but we’ll get to that later…)

So once again, congratulations on your acceptance to GCC! For your entertainment, here are a few videos that will enlighten you about campus life. Enjoy.
